Delta Air Lines Baggage Fees

Delta Air Lines baggage fees depend on your route, fare type, cabin class, and loyalty status. For most domestic flights, the first checked bag fee is $35 when paid online or through the Fly Delta app and $45 at the airport, while the second checked bag fee is $45 online/app and $55 at the airport. Delta allows passengers to bring one carry-on bag and one personal item for free on most flights, subject to size restrictions. Excess Baggage Guidelines

Checked bag limits:

  • Delta / Delta Shuttle flights: up to 10 bags per passenger
  • Delta Connection flights: up to 4 bags per passenger (accepted space-available; if it can't go on your flight, it ships on the next available one)

How fees work:

Extra fees apply separately for each rule you exceed — quantity, weight, and size are billed independently. For example, if your extra bag is both overweight and oversized, you'll be charged three separate fees: one for the extra bag itself, one for excess weight, and one for excess size. These fees apply per bag, each direction of travel.

  • Delta’s carry-on policy allows most passengers to bring one carry-on bag and one personal item without paying an additional fee. Carry-on bags must fit within Delta’s size requirements and should be stored in the overhead bin, while personal items must fit under the seat in front of you.

  • Carry-on allowance may vary for certain international flights, Basic Economy tickets, and specific aircraft restrictions. Passengers should review their booking details before traveling.
